My first crack at GYOTAKU and I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out! Mum is in town and gave me a helping hand. The kit from @by_hol.and.joe worked a treat with great instructions and everything you need it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it might be. Stoked for have a print of my first fish on the yak! Now to decide if I’m going to add more detail or just leave it as is…🐟

This was our last night on Moreton, we got to spend it as a family at one of our favourite beach camps of the trip. We all wrote an intention for this year and threw it into the fire to seal off our trip around Australia. I’m certainly in awe of how beautiful this country is and the generosity of the Australian spirit. It’s easy to get caught up in headlines and the politics of the world but we’re so lucky to live here and geez it’s a beautiful place!

Having items that have dual purposes was a high priority for us last year. The lid of the French oven doubles as a grill and works on both our cooking surfaces, gas and induction. I love the wooden magnet trivet as it makes serving up in the middle of a camp table easy as.

🦀 Crab & Pork shāomài 🥟

With only one legal mud crab to share between six adults I had to think of a way to stretch this bad boy out. I found a beautiful recipe by @mariongrasby that used the pork and crab in shāomài which would make it go a lot further. It was my first time making them but I tweaked up the flavours to suit what we had in the van and used thin pre made wonton wrappers. We also didn’t have a steamer so I did them pot sticker style with crispy bums. Because let’s be honest who doesn’t love a crispy bum… I’m keen to do another batch with more crab so I’ll be throwing the pots in at home over summer for a re do and having a crack at making our own wrappers! 🦀
